Privacy Policy

KartGarage (“we”, “us”) builds KartGarage, a mobile app that helps kart racers manage their garage, karts, setups, parts, maintenance, shopping lists, and carburetor jetting. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. We designed the app to be local-first and to collect as little as possible.

The short version: there is no account, nothing you create is uploaded to us, and there is no analytics or tracking of any kind. The only data that ever leaves your device is a set of approximate coordinates sent to a weather service, and only when you tap to fetch weather.

1. Data stored on your device

All of your content lives locally on your device in the app's database. This includes your karts, setups, parts and warehouse, maintenance tasks, shopping lists, notes, and any kart photos you add. We do not have a user account system, and this content is not uploaded to us or synced to our servers.

Kart photos taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library are stored only on your device.
Deleting the app removes this local data from your device.

2. Location

If you choose to fetch live weather for a setup, the app requests your device location and uses your approximate coordinates (medium accuracy) to:

retrieve current weather (temperature, humidity, pressure, conditions) from the Open-Meteo weather service; and
resolve a nearby place or track name using your device's built-in geocoder.

Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo only to return weather for that location and are not stored by us. Location is used only when you tap to fetch weather; the app does not track your location in the background. You can deny or revoke the location permission at any time in iOS Settings.

3. Purchases and subscriptions

KartGarage offers an optional paid subscription (KartGarage Pro). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit — we do not use any third-party subscription or purchase management service. The app receives standard purchase/transaction information from Apple (such as your subscription status and a StoreKit transaction identifier) to unlock Pro features and to support restoring purchases.

We do not receive your name, email, or Apple ID from these purchases.
This data is used only to deliver the features you paid for (unlocking Pro) and to restore purchases.

4. What we do NOT do

We do not use advertising or advertising identifiers.
We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
We do not sell or rent your data.

5. Third-party services

The app relies on the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Apple (App Store purchases, on-device geocoding).
Open-Meteo (weather data for the coordinates you request).

6. Children

KartGarage is not directed to children under 13 and is rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data retention and your choices

Because your content is stored on your device, you control it: edit or delete records in the app, revoke the location permission in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove local data. For questions about data handled by Apple, see Apple's privacy policy.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
